The University of Zambia is Zambia's largest university, founded in 1966. The University of Zambia has offered distance-learning degrees and diplomas since 1966. Print-based materials are the primary course materials, supported by face-to-face sessions and annual residentials. e-Learning does not figure prominently in promotional materials.

It has a student population of about 6,000. Its main campus is located about 7km from Lusaka City in Zambia.
