The term "superslice" is used in Pick&Mix to denote a superset of a whole institution which is analysed for benchmarking (usually as well as the complete institution).

While a slice might be a Faculty, a School, a Department, or some other coherent subset of the institution such as Postgraduate Programmes, Foundation Degrees, or Distance Learning. judged in terms of e-learning, a superslice is in some sense a superset of the institution. The most natural example is to broaden each e-learning criterion to the full range of learning and teaching. Another example is to broaden each e-learning criterion to the full range of IT systems.

The purpose of benchmarking a superslice is to check the consistency - one might even say alignment - of e-learning with the containing approaches around it.
