A score with a wide range of scores round it is called "cloudy".

The term jitter refers to the cloud of scores round an institutional score engendered by each slice or superslice.

The purpose of benchmarking slices or superslices is to check the uniformity (or otherwise) of spread of e-learning, reflecting the reality that in many institutions, responsibility for many aspects of e-learning (especially curriculum-related aspects) is devolved and the progress patchy.
